TODAY'S CRISIS OF VIOLENCE IN AMERICA by John Lars Zwerenz

TODAY'S CRISIS OF VIOLENCE IN AMERICA by John Lars Zwerenz

January 6, 2015

On the 20th of December, 2014, two New York City Police Department Officers, Officer Rapheal Ramos and Officer Wenjian Liu were brutally murdered execution style by a lone gunman as they sat in their patrol car in the line of duty.

The wickedness of these atrocities has captured the concerns of our Country in a manner seldom seen before in our Nation's history.

It is often the case that when the authorities that govern the Republic of The United States Of America neglect the demands of objective moral justice it is the police of our 50 States who become the "visible face" or the "most ostensible representation" of longtime, perpetual and nationwide injustices and are attacked with ineffable evil.    It is as though the police forces of our Republic become in times of crisis the sacrificial lamb which must be slaughtered in a most barbaric and malevolent manner to appease the gods of justice and to straighten our society's crooked ways.   This is the generic pathology behind many murders where police officers are the innocent victims.

The disenfranchised, the marginalized, the poor, the neglected populous of this great Republic must realize that law enforcement agencies do not govern the policies of this nation, nor do they  legislate the laws of this land as professionals, nor do they participate in any way in the Judicial decisions of our Federal Supreme Court.   Federal, State and local police entities exist to serve, protect and ensure the common peace of communities and individuals through many means beyond simple law enforcement.

The swelling ranks of those individuals who are supposed to represent, to whatever extent, the oppressed, the disenfranchised, and the poor in our Nation, as seen in the growing number of protesters which are lining and filling many city streets in recent months need to realize that the various police entities across the Country have nothing whatsoever to do with their oppression, nor with their misfortunes.

Materialism, selfishness and greed are the causal roots of today's civil unrest, and can be traced back to our Nation's founding during "The Enlightenment" of the late 18th Century.   The injustices in many of our established man made systems revolve around a spirit of secular self-aggrandizement perpetuated by many people in positions of power, both societal and economic, which do not address the primary needs of the common welfare nor of the poor and marginalized.

This dark side of America's legacy is as ancient as our origins and are as modern as this new year.  Although African Americans made tremendous contributions to this Nation's  overwhelming wealth, both as slaves and as free men, they were to a great degree for many years, and still are today to a lesser extent, not permitted entry to the best education possible nor to the best paying jobs.   This is still a key issue to be resolved, and if it is not resolved with common sense and in a timely fashion, our domestic societal unrest will only escalate.

Our Republic's current welfare system is a disgrace, replacing fathers with the financial "assistance" of our Federal and State governments encouraging sexual irresponsibility on a massive scale.   Although now a common plague in white families, this "post modern" attitude of intimacy without personal consequences has almost ruined our black communities and is at the very core of our Nation's frightening general decline in nearly all areas of human endeavor.

All young men and women, regardless of ethnicity, must be taught that the means of transmitting human life is sacred, that it is not a toy to play with merely to satisfy selfish desires.   And since, in general, as men have more freedom regarding sexual behaviors they are also more responsible to help right these wrongs from early manhood and throughout their lives for the sake of our society's well being.

Our government should encourage the importance of the human family over monetary gain and personal power.

The solutions to broad and pressing issues are not always apparent.  And neither, at first glance, or even after several glances, was this one.    Let us pray no more innocent lives are lost to the ancient madness of murder.
